{"id":2908,"date":"2026-08-06T10:37:30","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T07:37:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animaterra.org\/13%ce%bf-port-festival-%ce%ba%ce%b1%cf%84%ce%b1%ce%ba%cf%8c%ce%bb%ce%bf%cf%85\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T10:55:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T07:55:38","slug":"13%ce%bf-port-festival-%ce%ba%ce%b1%cf%84%ce%b1%ce%ba%cf%8c%ce%bb%ce%bf%cf%85","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animaterra.org\/en\/13%ce%bf-port-festival-%ce%ba%ce%b1%cf%84%ce%b1%ce%ba%cf%8c%ce%bb%ce%bf%cf%85\/","title":{"rendered":"13\u03bf PORT FESTIVAL \u039a\u0391\u03a4\u0391\u039a\u039f\u039b\u039f"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/animaterra.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Untitled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2902\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lively Villages, Fewer Fires!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first group of volunteers from the ANIMA TERRA initiative, organised by <em>The Olive Tree Routes<\/em>, sets off from Katakolo (Greece)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the <strong>13th Port Festival<\/strong>, held from <strong>31 July to 2 August<\/strong> in Katakolo Park, <strong>The Olive Tree Routes<\/strong> presented the <strong>ANIMA TERRA<\/strong> initiative, which aims to highlight and document the cultural, natural and productive heritage of rural villages in Greece and the Mediterranean that are threatened with depopulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the Festival, a new mission to document the cultural heritage of villages in Western Greece was announced, and members of the public were invited to participate as volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first <strong>50 volunteers<\/strong> will carry out field research in September in six communities across Western Greece:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Koliri (Municipality of Pyrgos)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pteri (Municipality of Aigialeia)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plataniotissa (Municipality of Kalavryta)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kallithea (Municipality of Agrinio)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kyparissos (Municipality of Agrinio)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ano Kerasovo (Municipality of Agrinio)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants will interview local residents and producers, complete questionnaires, and document elements of the area&#8217;s cultural heritage through photographs and videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme is open to anyone <strong>18 years of age or older<\/strong>, with no previous experience required. Training sessions will take place in Kalamata (<strong>5\u20136 or 12\u201313 September<\/strong>), followed by two one-day visits to one of the participating villages.
